Berkeley Lab is a multi-program national research facility operated by the University of California for the Department of Energy (DOE). Our fundamental mission is to provide national scientific leadership and technological innovation to support DOE objectives.

Outstanding recent Ph.D. recipients are invited to compete for the 2008 Lawrence Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. Students who expect to receive their Ph.D. degree by October 1, 2008 are also invited to apply.

The program provides unique and challenging opportunities to conduct research in the following areas:

· Computing Sciences

· Physical Sciences

· Energy Sciences

· Biosciences

· General Sciences

Fellows become integral members of research teams, gain exposure to current national issues, share and exchange innovative ideas and techniques, and enhance professional development.

Note: Applicants must be United States citizens or hold permanent resident alien (PRA) status, and have received a doctoral research degree from an accredited academic institution in an appropriate scientific or engineering discipline within three years of the appointment start date.
