EPA is seeking a highly qualified individual to provide executive leadership and management as the Associate Director for Health (ADH).  The ADH is responsible to the Assistant Administrator for Research and Development to formulate and implement a comprehensive research program to investigate the effects of environmental pollutants on human health. The incumbent plans, develops, organizes, directs, and implements a number of major environmental health effects research programs.  He/she will supervise the five Division Directors who direct the Laboratory’s health research programs, currently staffed by over 300 employees, and will serve as principle Health Scientific Advisor to the National Laboratory Director and to the Assistant Administrator for Research and Development. 

 

Qualifications:    A bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines:  biological and natural resources, general health sciences and toxicology, is required.  Desirable applicants will have a doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D., M.D.) in one of the biological, medical, veterinary and/or public health fields, and several years of experience leading a research program. 

 

Salary Range:    This is a Senior Executive Service (SES) position.  The salary range is $114,468 to $172,000, depending on qualifications.  In addition, physicians may be eligible for comparability allowance.
