Neurodevelopmental Neuroanatomist U. C. Davis M.I.N.D. Institute Davis, California
The University of California, Davis, School of Medicine M.I.N.D. Institute and an academic department to be identified at a later date, are recruiting for one (1) full-time faculty position (Assistant Professor In Residence) for a Neurodevelopmental Neuroanatomist. Candidate must possess a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and at least two years of productive postgraduate experience. Individual selected for the position will be expected to build a successful, independent research program and to achieve excellence in the teaching of basic sciences to medical and graduate students. This scientist should be committed to directing a substantial portion of their program to research in autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders. The most important criteria in the consideration of applicants are: (1) a record of excellence, creativity, and initiative in research, which establishes a strong potential to build a vigorous and competitive research program; (2) a demonstrated ability to communicate as a teacher and (3) ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment. Candidate will be a Neuroscientist (M.D. or a Ph.D.) with substantial expertise in the investigation of human postmortem brain material. The Candidate will carry out neuroanatomical/neuropathological studies using modern neuroanatomical techniques such as immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization. The Candidate may also examine brain pathology in animal models of neurodevelopmental disorders.
