Intern Positions Available

AWIS interns are a vital part of the national office operations. Our interns are invaluable to the organization, and we strive to make your experiences with AWIS equally valuable to your own career and leadership development.

Internship requirements include:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Computer literacy
  • A passion for social justice and women's rights

MARKETING INTERNSHIP

  • Assist with membership activities, including expanding the membership base
  • Promote advertising in the AWIS Magazine
  • Design communications pieces
  • Assist with media relations
  • Staff the Membership Committee of the National Board

PUBLICATIONS INTERNSHIP 

  • Create content for the AWIS website
  • Contribute to a policy-driven e-newsletter twice a month
  • Complete a variety of publications tasks including proofreading and editing
  • Research story opportunities for AWIS publications
  • Staff the Marketing and Communications Committee of the National Board 

ADVOCACY INTERNSHIP

  • Act as the AWIS liaison to the National Coalition for Women and Girls in Education 
  • Research legislation
  • Draft position statements
  • Staff the Advocacy and Public Education Committee of the National Board  

GRANT WRITING INTERNSHIP AT THE AWIS NATIONAL OFFICE

  • Research foundations and grant opportunities
  • Write grant applications
  • Develop other fundraising opportunities 
  • Staff the Endowment Committee of the National Board
  • Staff the Grants Committee of the National Board
