Science and engineering professionals are being called upon to become more active in their engagement, as citizens, as our elected officials engage in debates about the grand challenges that face our communities. Yet, at times the issues seem so big and our capacity to effectively engage so limited that we avoid doing anything beyond our occasional complaining about “those people in Washington.”  This presentation will explore the ways in which individual and groups of scientists and engineers can be effective in giving voice to and advocating for their concerns.  Participants will learn more about how to engage effectively in the legislative process.
