AWIS Fellow and president of the AWIS Tennessee chapter, Judith Iriarte-Gross, professor of chemistry at MTSU, has been awarded the inaugural Athena International Leadership Award.

“Each local organization selected an outstanding leader from their ranks as their nominee, a person who exemplifies leadership, commitment to community, and unselfish assistance to women and girls while excelling in their careers,” Dr. Jean Anne Rogers, 2014 Rutherford Athena chair, said earlier in a news release from the organization. “These nominees are our role models.”

AWIS congratulates her on receiving this prestigious award.  Click here for more details.

I first met Judith more than ten years ago when we were both serving on the Women Chemists Committee of the American Chemical Society. I was greatly impressed by her dedication, perseverance and accomplishments. This recognition is well-deserved.
