Position Title: Marketing Specialist
Reporting to: Chief Marketing Officer
Location: Flexible Remote Position

Position Summary

The marketing specialist will develop, manage, and execute targeted efforts and activities to promote the association’s mission and programs promoting advocacy, career growth, and scholarships to advance women in science. This position includes the opportunity to be creative and be involved with many aspects of an association marketing department. The marketing specialist will have professional responsibilities including social media, email marketing, website management, project management, writing, proofreading and editing skills to support multiple projects concurrently.

Requirements

  • A career path of progressive marketing experience over multiple years – preferably with a national association or in a nonprofit environment
  • Fluency and experience with executing digital marketing campaigns, creating content for multiple audiences, and measuring results
  • Some proficiency with graphic design – ideally the entire Adobe Creative Suite (PhotoShop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere) or other graphic design software
  • Proficiency with software including MicroSoft Office as well as project management tools, email marketing and CMS platforms
  • Experience with webpage creation or maintenance and search engine optimization
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, digital media or equivalent experience

Skills

  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills with the ability to convey information in an easy to understand, compelling, and engaging manner
  • Excellent project and time management skills with the ability to multitask, shift priorities, and work in a deadline-oriented, fast-paced environment
  • The candidate must be a self-starter who can thrive independently, adapt quickly, and collaborate successfully with his/her peers
  • Strong interpersonal communications skills with the ability to engage effectively with membership chapters, affiliates and partners
  • Exercise good judgment and make sound decisions that demonstrate problem solving ability, adaptability and responsiveness to change
  • Understanding of the culture of scientific professionals and knowledge of STEM industries would be a significant asset

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute tactics for all aspects of communications, marketing and public relations for AWIS, its chapters and affiliates, members, and governance Board
  • Manage monthly webinar series including promotions, speaker management and event coordination
  • Provide writing and coordination for various AWIS communications including the quarterly magazine, weekly newsletter, press releases, advocacy tools and career resources with attention to detail to ensure accuracy of information
  • Manage social media advertising and remarketing campaigns
  • Design and edit graphics, images, webpages, videos, and other collateral like PowerPoint presentations, and advertisements
  • Create marketing assets and collateral, activate campaigns, and measure results
  • Help identify story telling opportunities and amplify AWIS key messages and brand
  • Survey members and understand their roles and their needs

Salary Range and Highlights of Benefits

  • $60,000 to $65,000 annually

  • 12 days of vacation day, 9 national holidays, and 2 personal days per year
