Position Title: Membership Manager
Reporting to: Chief Operating Officer
Location: Flexible Remote Position

Position Summary

The membership manager is responsible for a broad range of activities to grow and support individual members by focusing on the customer experience, recruitment and renewal process, database management, and customer service. The membership manager will also be the staff liaison to the Chapter Advisory Committee and the Educational and Scholarship Awards Committee.

Requirements

  • A career path of progressive membership management experience – a plus if with a national association or in a nonprofit environment
  • Creativity to develop, and the ability to implement, an individual member engagement and retention strategy
  • Experience developing and implementing a membership acquisition strategy
  • Proficiency with customer relationship management (CRM) databases, experience with MemberClicks is a plus, and other software including MS Office as well as project management tools
  • Ability to analyze member data to support programs which increase member engagement
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in communications, marketing, digital media or equivalent experience

  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills with the ability to convey information in an easy to understand, compelling, and engaging manner
  • Excellent project and time management skills with the ability to multitask, shift priorities, and work in a deadline-oriented, fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal communications skills with the ability to work as part of team and collaborate and engage effectively with membership chapters, and the general public
  • Exercises good judgment and makes sound decisions that demonstrate problem solving ability, adaptability and responsiveness to change
  • Ability to think critically and analytically, and when needed, craft and execute strategic, rapid-response communications in a timely manner
  • The candidate must be a self-starter who can thrive independently, adapt quickly, and collaborate successfully with his/her peers
  • Understanding of the culture of scientific professionals and knowledge of STEM industries a significant asset

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and execute tactics for all aspects of member recruitment, engagement, and renewal process
  • Manage and support member programing
  • Provide customer service to members and stakeholders
  • Cultivate relationships with members and chapter leaders
  • Provide project management and staff leadership to the Chapters Committee including executing the STAR award process
  • Provide staff leadership to the Scholarship Awards Committee and manages the Scholarship Awards application and selection process
  • Build relationships with volunteers and manages volunteer activities
  • Fulfills membership data requests and manages Chapter/Affiliate reporting process
  • Manages Chapter and Affiliate subordinate group IRS registration and e-postcard process
  • Manages member database (MemberClicks)

Salary Range and Highlights of Benefits

  • Salary $60,000-65,000 annually

  • 12 days of vacation day, 9 national holidays, and 2 personal days per year
